Organizing summit: ILWU organizers from the Mainland and Hawaii met via Zoom on November 6 to share information, ideas and strategies and to discuss ongoing organizing campaigns and targets. ILWU International President Willie Adams and International Vice Present Bobby Olvera were on the call. President Adams thanked the organizers for their work and said that the Titled Officers stand firmly behind the department and their efforts. “The purpose of organizing is to make people’s lives better,” said Vice President Olvera. “The impact of the work you do extends beyond the shops we are organizing. Just starting an organizing campaign can cause other employers in an industry to raise the wages of workers.”
